Located along the bluffs of the beautiful San Joaquin River, Riverside Golf Course offers a first class golfing experience and a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Golf Digest awarded this public course a Three Star rating and the Audubon International Society recently recognized Riverside Golf Course for its achievement in "Environmental Planning".
The 10th, 11th, and 12th holes alone, are enough to make playing this course worthwhile. The dramatic drop from tee to fairway on the tenth is exhilarating, to say the least. The eleventh is an uphill par three with deep
bunkering. Follow that up with another drop from tee to sloping fairway and an uphill approach shot to a narrow green on the twelfth, and you have perhaps the
most unique three hole combination in the valley.
The parkland-style course was Built in 1939 and features expansive tree-lined fairways stretching over gently rolling terrain and small thoughtfully bunkered greens, a trademark of noted architect, W.P. "Billy" Bell. Bell's credits include such well respected courses as Torrey Pines and Stanford University, and his collaborations with George Thomas, produced such classic designs as Riviera Country Club.
Riverside Golf Course is a favorite of tournament planners and offers all of the amenities for a successful event,
including special incentives for combining tournament fees with food purchases. Riverside is host to the annual Fresno City Championships, the premier amateur event in the region.
In addition to the fine golf course, full service pro shop and restaurant, Riverside boasts one of the best short
game practice facilities in California, and a lighted driving range. Their accomplished golf professionals are available to help with individual, or group lessons.
With all that Riverside Golf Course has to offer, it's surprisingly one of the best golfing values in the state, with reasonable green and cart fees, and for
those of us who prefer to walk, carts are not required. Because of it's great location, the course has long been a favorite of local golfers and is considered a "must play" for travelers.
