St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa is without question not only one of the most spectacular facilities you'll find in Scotland, but it is one of the best you'll find anywhere in the world!
St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa is a Five Star hotel that sits proudly amidst the rugged, coastal landscape of the North Sea while commanding spectacular views of the bay’s golden beaches and medieval St Andrews. This is an area rich with tradition, history, and endless spectacular views of the Fife countryside.
This resort offers an international standard of service and meticulous attention to detail in the comfort and convenience of a modern world-class resort, shrouded in the history of the ‘Home of Golf’. St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa boasts 209 guestrooms (including 17 suites), three restaurants, lounge areas, health spa, gym, an 18 meter heated indoor swimming pool, cocktail bar, gift shop, 15,000 square foot conference center (including ballroom), two boardrooms, nine meeting rooms, 106 seat auditorium, two 4,000 square foot Manor Homes and two spectacular championship golf courses.
Diners can savor a wide variety of fine wines, seafood and international cuisine served to perfection in their choice of "The Squire" or "Kittock's Den".
The Château Élan Spa at St Andrews Bay is a haven of peace and tranquility. Enjoy a few easy lengths in the 18-meter pool, relax in the Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, or indulge yourself with one of their treatments. Guests can choose from a full body Swedish massage, an Aroma-pure facial, or soak away their troubles in the hydrotherapy bath.
The resort also boasts 36 holes of championship golf. The Torrance Course, designed by the late Gene Sarazen and winning Ryder Cup Captain, Sam Torrance, is a par 72, 6986 yard course that sweeps its way round the hotel and down to the coastal edge. The signature hole is the 17th, a par 4, 452 yards from the championship tee named ‘Sam’s favorite’. After playing your way down to the rugged cliff edge the hole meanders its way back towards the bay, with the medieval skyline of St Andrews in the distance. With the sea and the out of bounds on the right and a menacing bunker on the left of your landing area, all that’s left is the second shot, 210 yards normally into the prevailing wind with a 70 foot gorge running along the front of the green, two good putts and you’ve made par!
The Devlin golf course was designed by Bruce Devlin and the late Gene Sarazen, a truly magnificent 72par, 7,049 yard championship course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape. With beautifully sculpted rolling greens, undulating fairways, dramatic elevation changes and greens perched on cliff tops; this is a truly unique golfing experience. The signature 17th hole is a par 4, 443 yards from the tee to the picturesque green. After the initial difficult tee shot the green is well protected by pot bunkers and steep drops, but should you find a safe arrival on the putting surface then two good puts should secure par. The most dangerous attribute of the course is the fear in the mind of the golfer. Greens appear suspended, nothing but water and the horizon are in view which puts doubt in club selection and makes accuracy paramount. However, this drama adds to the sense of excitement generated by the prospect of tackling such a demanding course.
The new Clubhouse, perched on a cliff edge, has a stunning backdrop with breathtaking views over the North Sea and the St Andrews skyline. It includes a pro-shop with PGA training facilities, driving and practice range, bag drop for 200 clubs, 3000 square foot sea-view restaurant and bar with fully decked balcony – perfect for al fresco dining.
